Bricklayers Picnic

The date has been set for August 19th at Clays Park Resort located off Route 21 on State Route 93 in Canal Fulton. Tickets are $15, which includes a picnic lunch, pop and beer. For more information call Tom at (216) 361-1652 you can also access their web site (http://www.clayspark.com).


SERVICE AWARDS

For the month of August we have Brothers Al Azolino, Anthony Karagiozis and Louise G. Kava become 50-year Gold Card Life members. From the membership and the Executive Board we thank you for all your many years of service to our Union.

MEMBERS WHO HAVE PASSED

In the month of July we lost 50-year Gold Card Brothers Adolf Gwinn and Donald Dean. From the Executive Board and all the Members of Local 5 we wish to extend our deepest sympathies to their families and friends. 37-year old Brother Richard Bezak was killed in a motorcycle crash on June 27th 2007. From Local 5 and the Executive Board, we wish his family our condolences.

Safety Training

There are no classes scheduled as of this date.

Bricklayers Golf Outing

 

The golf outing again was a great success with Tom Kudela’s team taking top honors. Steve Hanlon would like to thank the Contractors and Suppliers for sponsoring holes for the outing. Special thanks to Joe Coreno and Tom Nagy for all their help.


LABOR DAY PARADE AND SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT

The Parade will be Saturday September 1st 2007 Step off at 10:00 am from North Olmsted Middle School parking lot. The Parade will follow Butternut to Dover Center then to Lorain Rd.

The Softball Tournament will be played at James Day Park located 11828 West Pleasant Valley Road in Parma, OH starting Thursday 08/30, Friday 08/31 at 6 pm, with the finals Saturday, Sept 1st in the morning.

                                                                       APPRENTICE APPLICATIONS

Local 5 is currently taking applications for the apprenticeship program Thursday and Fridays from 8am till 11:30am at the Union Hall 4205 Chester Avenue Cleveland Ohio 44103. If you know of interested people who are thinking of pursuing a career in the trowel trades have them contact Local 5 at (216) 361-1652 or Anthony McCullough Apprentice Coordinator of the Regional Training Center for NOADC. 5171 Hudson Drive Hudson Ohio 44236, (330)-463-5419.

UNION MEETINGS are the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the Bricklayers Hall at 8pm.
