MEMBERSHIP NEWS
The Officers and Members of Local 5 offer our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Brother Doyle Wells, (father of Brother Darren Wells) Brother Laddie Nekl, and Brother Anthony McGowan, all of whom recently died. We also extend our condolences to Brother Vince Isaac whose mother-in-law Sallie Grabowski passed away, Brother Al Phillips on the loss of his father Al, and to Brothers Nick and James Agapetus on the loss of their father, Jimmy. Mike Simmons, son of Brother Joe Simmons, reported that his dad went into the hospital June 6th. A call or a card would probably be a welcomed gesture. Get well Joe! We hope you feel better real soon! To make arrangements to be drug tested call Safety Controls Technology at 216-587-3000. The Bricklayers Annual Golf Outing is Saturday, August 7th at Mallard Creek. Tickets are still available for $75 dollars which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, pop, beer, lunch, dinner and door prizes. Call Brother Steve Hanlon at 440-979-0337 if you are interested in playing. Congratulations to University of Toledo pitcher Matthew Suschak, grandson of Brother John Suschak, who was recently drafted by the Atlanta Braves and who is now playing baseball in North Carolina.
The Retirees Club is going gambling at the Wheeling Island Racetrack & Casino Wednesday, August 25th. Club President Geno Summa and Trustee Brother Bob Klimkowicz said ?We invite all Bricklayers and friends for a day of fun. Once we get there we will stay for six hours. There are plenty of things to do there.? Meet at Lakefront Lines off of I-480 on Brookpark and W.130th to board at 8:15 a.m. The bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. sharp. In order to keep costs down, no refreshments will be provided by the club on the bus this year. However, you are more than welcome to bring your own. Estimated to be approximately around $25 dollars, cost per person, food coupon, and free play information was not available at press time, but will appear in next month?s Citizen. Bob asks that you call him a soon as possible to let him know if you are going, so he can write your name on the manifest that he has to provide to the bus company, so they can determine specifically what the cost will be. The more the passengers, the cheaper the trip! Call Bob at 1-440-777-4231, or Geno at 1-440-915-0646, or the hall 216-346-1652. As of this writing the Bricklayer?s softball team is 6-3.
