The Citizen
February, 2006 For the whole month of January we experienced unseasonably mild weather for this time of year. Lets hope it keeps up for February also. Just a reminder that if you move or change your beneficiary to make sure that the Local gets that information so the Benevolent can be updated. Bud Jones, Treasurer for the Benevolent for many years, has retired from that office and was replaced by Tom Cowan. On behalf of all the members of Local 5 I would like to thank Bud for all his time and effort to upgrade the insurance policy as it currently stands. This January we lost two of our Fifty-Year Gold Card Members: Brother Louis C. Delciappo (also known as Machine Gun Louie) and Brother John Kardamis both passed away peacefully at their homes. John was the H&W, Pension Administrator for over 40 years. Under his guidance, along with our Trustees, our funds stood up to the many financial changes over time. To still be one of the best H&W, Pension plans for the dollars invested are a credit to John. Local 5 Chaplin Brother John T. Gales lost his loving wife Ernestine. From the Executive Board and all the members of Local 5 we wish to convey our most heartfelt sympathies to these members family and friends .SERVICE AWARDS For the month of February we have one member reaching the milestone of 50-Year Gold Card Life Member, Brother Harris Dolcini. From the Executive Board and Members of Local 5 we wish to thank you for all these many years of service to our Union.
