Now that winter is in full swing and the economy is in the tank, it would be a good time to take some safety training classes at the OADC Training Center in Hudson. To register call Safety Instructor Don Mays at 330-382-9600. 

 

Spring is coming, believe it or not, and tickets for the May 2nd Bricklayers Social Club Reverse Raffle and Dinner are now on sale. It will be held at the Pipefitters Hall, 6305 Halle Drive, Valley View, Ohio 44125. A carved beef buffet style dinner, open bar, appetizers, music, and dancing will be available for the price of $55 dollars per person. The grand prize is $3,000 dollars and only 200 tickets will be sold. Call the Hall at 216-361-1652 or Joe Coreno 440-333-8412 for tickets.

CORRECTION

The golf outing will be held Saturday, August 1, 2009 at Mallard Creek and not the 15th as previously reported.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

Two of our members received service awards in the month of January: Brother Doyle Wells with 40 years of service and Brother Robert Grant with 25 years. From the Executive Board and the Members of Local 5, congratulations and thank you for your many years of faithful service.

 

We would like to extend our sympathies to the families and friends of Brother Carmine Palmieri who passed away recently. Brother Palmieri was a member for 55 years.

 

Apprentice applications are still being taken Mondays and Tuesdays 8 – 11 a.m. at the Hall.

 

To our Sisters and Brothers who do not have current drug free card, call Brother Dave Wondolowski at 216-780-8645 or me, Paul Shymske at 216-346-7655 to make arrangements to be tested.

 

Approximately thirty of our members and/or their spouses were tested by Healthy Life Screening Saturday, January 31st. To those of you who participated, thanks for coming out, and “here’s to your health!”

 

The OADC is implementing a new organizing policy to increase and to maintain stability and retention of our membership in these economically trying times. To find out more, come to the Union Meetings on the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of the month at 8 p. m. at 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103.
