January, 2007
Here it is the
5th of January and its 50 degrees out. The snowfall is way
below average. Not sure if it’s a good thing or bad, but the jobs have
been working a good number of hours per week. The Christmas party was a
big success with Colen Campbell dispensing the
holiday cheer. I would like to thank President Joe Coreno, Vice-Pres Paul Shymske, Sgt-at-Arms David Drabrowsk, Rick Shelly Sr. and Gary Browning for their
help in making it an enjoyable evening.
MEMBERS WHO HAVE
PASSED
For the month of
December 50-year Gold card members Brothers Theodore Kochems and John L. Looby
passed away. We also lost Local 5 past President Robert (Bob) Nemetz. Bob always looked out for the good of the
Union, keeping what was in the best interest of our
members while serving as a Trustee on the Health & Welfare Board. He
encouraged young members to get involved in Union affairs. He spent a
great amount of time making sure our apprentices got the best training
possible. It gave him satisfaction when he shook their hand when they
became journeymen. From the Executive Board and all the Members of Local 5
we wish to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to their family and
friends.
