Healthy Life Screening will be conducting cardiovascular screenings Saturday, January 31, 2009 in the Local 5 lunch room at 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland.Test fee for union members is a specially arranged price of $125.00, a reduction from last year. You can be reimbursed if you have a sufficient balance in your reimbursment account. Over 50% of heart attacks and strokes occur with no symptoms. Don’t become a statistic! There will be a special called meeting of the Bricklayer’s Social Club Wednesday, January 21, at 7p.m. at the hall to discuss and plan the events of 2009.

 

Two dates to save:

  •  May 2, 2009 is the date of the Bricklayer’s Reverse Raffle to be held at the Pipefitters Local 120 hall in Valley View. Only 200 tickets will be sold at the price of  $55.00 per person which includes dinner, appetizers, drinks, dancing and the chance to win a prize.
  • The Bricklayer’s Golf Outing is August 15th. Details to come.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

We were very sorry to hear that our Brothers Albert Fabian, Joseph Magri, Robert W. Kovacs, and Charles Nascone passed away. From the Executive Board and all the members of Local 5 we wish to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to their families and friends.

Brother “Broadway Joe” Novich is in the hospital. A card, a call or a visit would probably cheer him up.

 

50 year award recipients last month included Brothers Richard A. Peck, Dante Raffin, and Hampton Walker Jr.  Receiving 40 year service awards were Brothers Robert Carpenter, Michael W. Holmes, John F. Spooner, and Andrew B. Collucci. 25 year awards went out to Brothers Allan S. Labyk, Alan R. Roush and Willie P. Senior. Congratulations to all of you, and thank you from the Executive Board and the members of Local 5.

APPRENTICE APPLICATIONS

Local 5 is currently taking applications for the apprenticeship program Mondays and Tuesdays from 8am till 11:00am at the Union Hall 4205 Chester Avenue Cleveland Ohio 44103. At this time, I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the members who helped me with the Christmas party, so many to name, I would run out of space. Thanks for setting up, cleaning up, and everything in between. You truly demonstrated your respect for and loyalty to your union. Here’s hoping others will follow your example.
