The work is finally starting to pick up. It is nice to have every one of our members back to work. Just as I mentioned in the last issue of The Citizen, make sure you have the correct address and beneficiary recorded in the Benevolent and Health &Welfare office. Keep in mind if you make changes here locally you also need to make the change with the International since we are in the BAC pension plan.

We are on a count down to November 2^nd here in Ohio. All of Labor is in need of getting as many of friends, family and people down the street to register to vote. If Ohioans fail to get Democrats into office the whole state will be in trouble. Labor is backing Sherrod Brown for US Senate, Ted Strickland for Governor and Betty Sutton. We have to rid Ohio’s government that is governed by its worst people. This country is really something, when a President receives something behind closed doors and receives no money and is impeached. Our governor receives money, fishing and golf trips, tells no one, and receives a slap on the wrist.

MEMBERS WHO HAVE PASSED

For the month of June we had 50-year Gold Card members, Brothers Cleveland Osman and Anton Lavrisha, pass. From the Executive Board and all the Members of Local 5, we wish to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to their family and friends.

SERVICE AWARDS

For the month of July, Brothers Richard Hollen, Lother Jung, Frank Landino, David R. Macak, Frank A. Smith, William F. Terrion and Werner Weber all became 50-year Gold Card Life Members. From the membership and the Executive Board, we thank you for all your many years of service to our Union.

Safety Training

APPRENTICE APPLICATIONS

Local 5 is currently taking applications for the Apprenticeship program Thursdays and Fridays from 8am 'till 12 noon at the Union Hall, 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. Bricklayers Golf Outing August 5^th 2006

Saturday August 5^th 2006 at Mallard Creek Golf Course 34500 Royalton Road, Columbia Station. Tickets are $70.00 per person and include 18 holes with cart, lunch, dinner, beer and pop. Raffle Prizes will be awarded.

UNION MEETINGS are the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the Bricklayers Hall at 8pm.
