The work is finally starting to pick up. It would nice to get every one of our members back to work. Just as I mentioned in the last issue of The Citizen, make sure you have the correct address and beneficiary recorded in the Benevolent and Health & Welfare office. Keep in mind if you make changes here locally you also need to make the change with the International since we are in the BAC pension plan.

Bricklayers Social Club Reverse Raffle was a big success. I would like to thank the following Brothers who helped make the evening go smoothly: Joe Coreno, Jimmy Barber, Ross Pagano, Paul Shymske, Anthony McCullough, Ken Kudela and Dave Wondolowski. We are already planning next year's event, which will be the first or second week of April.

MEMBERS WHO HAVE PASSED

For the month of May we lost 50-Year Gold card Brothers, Steve P. Papp Jr. Leslie Shorter, Robert Doyle, John Nary. We also lost 18-year member Brother Bernard E. Yelenosky. From the Executive Board and all the Members of Local 5 we wish to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to their family and friends.

SERVICE AWARDS

For the month of May we have Brothers Theodora Kolosiwsky Jr. and Gary G. Rickard reach 25-years of service. Brothers Robert J. Kusky and Robert Moore Jr. reached 40 years of service. Brothers Adolf Gwinn, Donald Medaglia and Salvatore Teresi all became 50-year Gold Card Life Members. From the membership and the Executive Board we thank you for all your many years of service to our Union.

Safety Training

1. Suspension Scaffold/Rigging & Body Harness Safety, June 10^th 2006

2. Steward Training (must be updated every 4-years) June 24^th 2006

APPRENTICE APPLICATIONS

Local 5 is currently taking applications for the Apprenticeship program Thursdays and Fridays from 8am 'till 12 noon at the Union Hall, 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. Bricklayers Golf Outing August 5^th 2006

Saturday August 5^th 2006 at Mallard Creek Golf Course 34500 Royalton Road, Columbia Station. Tickets are $70.00 per person and include 18 holes with cart, lunch, dinner, beer and pop. Raffle Prizes will be awarded.

LOCAL UNION NO 5 OHIO PENSION PLAN

NOTICE REGARDING RE-EMPLOYMENT AFTER RETIREMENT

The Trustees of the Local Unions Pension are pleased to announce that a resolution has been adopted which allows a retired member who applied for retirement prior to April 2006 to work at the trade during the period May 1^st 2006 through December 31^st 2006 without loss of monthly checks.

Please be advised that this special rule applies only till December 31^st 2006 and retired members should recognize that after December 31^st 2006 the Trustees would apply the normal rules and penalties regarding work at the retired members during both permissive and non-permissive periods.

We suggest that you clip this article and place the same in your copy of the Pension Plan Summary booklet.
