ATTENTION REGISTERED VOTERS. Sign the petition to put Senate Bill 5 on the November ballot for Ohioans to vote on. The next union meeting which is always on the third Wednesday of the month, at 7 p.m. is June 15, 2011.

 

Retirees Bus Trip 2011

All Bricklayers and friends are invited to the Local 5 Retiree’s Club bus trip to the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh Wednesday June 29th. Meet at Lakefront Lines (across from Malley’s Chocolates) off of I-480 on Brookpark Road and West 130th Street to board at 8:00 a.m. Please be prepared to show your I.D. The bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. sharp. There will be one stop made on the way there and one on the way back. The stay in Pittsburgh will last five and one half hours.

 The price is the same as last year’s which was $26.00 dollars per person. The cost includes $10.00 dollars free play and $5.00 dollars for food. Reserve your seat on the bus now by sending a check made out to Bricklayers Local 5 to Bob Klimkowicz, 4657 Lansing Drive, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. Bob has to get the manifest with a minimum of  35 passengers on it to the bus company two weeks prior to the event or the trip will be cancelled. In order to keep costs down, no refreshments will be provided by the club on the bus. However, you may bring your own. For further information call Bob at 440-777-4231 or Geno at 440-915-0646. 

 

Congratulations to Brother Josef Karl, Brother Salvatore Poltrone, and Brother David Wanicki, who are our newest 50 year Gold Card Life Members this month. The officers and members of Local 5 thank all of you for your many years of service and dedication to our union.

 

Pre-apprenticeship applications are accepted Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 5 Union Hall, 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. A valid driver?s license and a high school diploma or G.E.D. must be provided prior to filling out an application.

Please send your local monthly union dues ($21.00 per month) to the OADC Dues Processing Center, 5171 Hudson Drive, Hudson, Ohio 44236 or call 1-800-442-0479 to make checkless payments or to pay by credit card. Please do not send them to Local 5, as this may cause a delay which could result in you being dropped.

The members and officers of Local 5 offer our sincere sympathies to the families and friends of Brother Raymond F. Berardinelli and Brother James Butvin, who passed away recently. Our condolences to Brother Mike Lauber on the loss of his brother John. 

 

Despite the torrential rains, the Local 5 softball team was able to get one victory under their belt, a 17-4 win over Project 13 Design on May 8th. Remember, the games are played on Sundays at Brookside Park on Rose and Elder Field. Games remaining for June: 6/12@ 10 a.m., 6/19@ 10 a.m., and 6/26@ 1:30 p.m. Rainout make-up game times will be posted at the ball fields.

 

The office of Local 5 will be closed Monday, July 4, 2011 in observance of the holiday.
