The next union meeting is the third Wednesday of the month, March 16, 2011, 7 p.m. at the Hall.

Congratulations to our newest 50 year Gold Card Life Members, Brother Louis Bartolucci and Brother Hosea Gilbert. Congratulations are also in order for 25 year award member Joseph Morris. The membership and officers of Local 5 thanks you men for your many years of service and dedication to our craft and our union.

Pre-apprenticeship applications are accepted Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 5 Union Hall, 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. A valid driver?s license and a high school diploma or G.E.D. must be provided prior to filling out an application.

There are still several Journeyperson Upgrade classes scheduled for the remainder of this season being offered at the Robert A. Fozio Training Center in Hudson.  For dates, times, and additional information, or to register for one or more of the classes, contact Anthony McCullough, Apprentice Coordinator, at 330-463-5501. Detailed schedules with times and dates are available at the hall. For additional safety training information please call OADC Safety Instructor Don Mays at 330-382-9600, or log on to oadc.net.
 
Please send your local monthly union dues ($21.00 per month) to the OADC Dues Processing Center, 5171 Hudson Drive, Hudson, Ohio 44236 or call 1-800-442-0479 to make checkless payments or to pay by credit card. Please do not send them to Local 5, as this may cause a delay which could result in you being dropped. Check your card now and avoid having to pay the reinstatement fee or miss out on an opportunity to work because your dues payments are in arrears.

The members and officers of Local 5 offer our deepest sympathies to the families and friends of Brother Louis Leho, Brother Thomas Oreskovic, Brother Kevin Napolz, Brother Charles Mencke, and Brother Al Vonderau, all of whom passed away recently. The Local 5 members and officers extend our sincere condolences to Brother Pete Stanonis, whose father Peter Sr., passed away.
 
A tip of the hard hat to Brother Sam Salerno and any other of our Brothers and Sisters who have been making the journey to Columbus and attending rallies there and elsewhere to fight for us and protest the 2011 attack on working families and the middle class. Thanks for your selfless efforts and for living your Union Pride.
