Retirees Bus Trip 2011

Geno and Brother Bob Klimkowicz are planning a Lake Front Lines bus trip to the Rivers Casino in Pittsburgh Wednesday, June 29th. Bob wants me to be sure everybody knows that ALL ARE WELCOME.(You don?t necessarily have to be a Bricklayer, or even a retiree, for that matter.) The price will he held at the same as last year?s which was $26.00 per person. Reserve your seat on the bus before they run out by sending a check made out to Bricklayers Local 5 to Bob Klimkowicz, 4657 Lansing Drive, North Olmsted, Ohio 44070. For further information call Bob at 440-777-4231 or Geno at 440-915-0646. These guys do a great job on this function, so get the money to them as fast as you can so they too will have time to rest up and enjoy the trip instead of working right up to the last minute.

A BIG TIP OF THE HARD HAT to the members who donated their time and skill in the cold weather on the Brunswick High School Baseball Dugout project. Four dugouts were built; two for the girls field and two for the boys field out of split-faced block. A special thanks to Norm King Construction, who let us borrow their equipment. Field Rep Vince Isaac coordinated the job and Brother Rob Scheel  ran the job. Other members working on the project were Jon Briggs, Brian Strohsack, Al Labyk, Ian Hollows, Nick Imbrigotta, Mike McGinty, Chris Kustra, Joe Sweeney, John Moore, Dan Spehar, Ed Grant, Jim Fahey, Jesse Smith, Tom Chappelle, Anthony McCullough and the second year apprentice class.

As I write this column on Wednesday April 27th, it has occurred to me that Workers Memorial Day is Thursday April 28th.   Please remember in your thoughts and prayers Brother John Weicheck (June17, 1980) and Brother Pat Pizzuli (March 29, 1984) both of whom died on the job.

The office of Local 5 will be closed Monday, May 30, 2011 in honor of Memorial Day. To all veterans and active service personnel of the U.S. Military, thank you for serving and protecting our country.
