We are on a count down to the November 7^th elections here in Ohio. All of Labor is in need of getting as many of friends, family and the people down the street to register to vote. PLEASE VOTE

MEMBERS WHO HAVE PASSED

For the month of October, Brothers Lelio DiFrancesco and George Christen Sr. passed away. Brother Christen was a three-term Business agent for Local 5. From the Executive Board and all the Members of Local 5 we wish to extend our most heartfelt sympathies to their family and friends.

SERVICE AWARDS

For the month of November, Brothers John Buddenhagen, John Gulyas and Bruno Moreal all became 50-year Gold Card Life Members. From the membership and the Executive Board we thank you for all your many years of service to our Union.

Membership News

Brother Philip Romano and his wife, Marion, became grandparents. Their daughter, Sarah, gave birth to a healthy baby boy, John Michael.

Safety Training

1. Steward Training Class will be held Saturday, December 9^th, 2006

2. 10 Hour OSHA Construction Health & Safety October 28^th 2006

3. CPR / First Aid / AED Red Cross Certified Instructors January 13^th, 2007

4. Respiratory Hazards/ Respirator Fit testing & Training January 20^th 2007

These classes have dates pending:

Confined Space, Lock Out, Hazard Communication

30 Hour OSHA Construction Health & Safety Training (4 days to complete)

Suspension Scaffold / Rigging & Body Harness Safety part one & two.

NOTE: You must pre-register for the classes available. To register you must submit a check to the NOADC of BAC in the amount of $20.00. The check will be refunded to you for attending the class. This helps us to curb abuse of the safety training available, yet results in no actual cost of training to those who attend.

All classes will be held at the NOADC Training Center, 5171 Hudson Drive, Hudson Ohio 44236.

APPRENTICE APPLICATIONS

Local 5 is currently taking applications for the Apprenticeship program Thursdays and Fridays from 8am 'till 12 noon at the Union Hall, 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. If you know of interested people who are thinking of pursuing a career in the trowel trades have them contact Local 5 at (216) 361-1652 or Anthony McCullough Apprentice Coordinator of the Regional Training Center for NOADC. 5171 Hudson Drive, Hudson, Ohio 44236, (330) 463-5501.

UNION MEETINGS are the first and third Wednesdays of the month at the Bricklayers Hall at 8pm.
