All MEMBERS of Local 5 are invited to our annual Christmas party December 17, 2008 at the Hall.
Doors open at 6 p. m.

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

Sisters and Brothers, please send your monthly dues to Ohio Administrative District Council, 5171 Hudson Drive, Hudson, Ohio 44236. OADC also accepts credit card and checkless payments over the phone.

To our members who do not have a current drug free card: We are receiving word from our contractors that they will not hire anyone that cannot produce a current card. If your card has lapsed, call Dave Wondolowski (216-780-8645) to make arrangements to be tested. As workers comp costs soar more and more, contractors will want a complete compliance to reduce their insurance costs.

Please  keep in your thoughts and prayers Brothers Clyde McCauley, Nikolay Boychuck, and  Alex Rychlik  for a fast return to good health.

Bricklayers Local 5 Retiree’s Club

The Retiree’s Luncheon was held at Frank Sterle’s Slovenian Country House on October 29th. It was truly an honor for me personally to be in the presence of so many of our Senior members who paved the way for today’s Local 5. President Joe Coreno thanked all the retirees for their many years of faithful service and introduced our new officers. Retiree’s Club President Geno Summa brought down the house with his stand up comedy routine. We had a lot of laughs and a lot of reminiscing. The food was good too. Thanks to Geno, Joe, Bob Klimkowicz, Tom Cowan, Dave Wondoloski, and Vince Isaac for their help with this event. Hope to see you all next year.

Our hard work and dedication has paid off with the victory of Barack Obama and so many other of our worker friendly politicians. The table is set for us to turn this country around. WE MUST COME TO THE TABLE. Come to the meetings and bring an apprentice. Volunteer. Get on a committee. Give your contractor a good day. Support your Steward. Attend Union functions. Take advantage of our Journeyperson Upgrades. Call your congressman. Talk to your local politicians. Hell, become a local politician. Why not? The ball is in our court. Let’s seize the moment. The more of us that get involved the stronger we will be.
