The Executive board of Local 5 would like to thank all of our members who attended rallies, marched, passed out literature, or helped in any other way to support the organized labor movement in this year’s November election.

                                                                                                                   

Due to the results of the vote to amend Article XIV, Section 1 of the Local 5 Constitution at the October 21, 2009 union meeting, beginning January 2010 the regular meetings of this local shall be held on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. 

 

 

MEMBERSHIP NEWS

 

Local 5 would like to extend its deepest heartfelt sympathies to the families and friends of Brother Joseph R. Immormino, Brother Arthur J. Busser, and Brother Clyde McCauley who recently passed away.

                                                                                                                                                        

Brother Bob Norton and Brother Mark Siders will receive their 25 year service awards this month. Brother Antonio Dicorpo will receive his 40 year award. From the membership and the Executive Board, congratulations, and thanks to all of you for your many years of service to our union.

 

Congratulations to Brother Lou Feijoo and his new bride Gina, who were married October 10. Best wishes to both of you.

 

Congratulations to 83 year old Brother and 64 year Life Member Phil Sommerville for being elected the Northern Ohio Golfers Association’s “Back To Golf” program “2009 Golfer Of The Year”. Phil shot a 39 at North Olmsted Golf Course the day he won the trophy.

Apprentice applications are still being taken on Mondays 8:30 – 10 a.m. at the Hall. If you know someone interested in learning the skilled trowel trades, have them call Apprentice Coordinator Anthony McCullough at the OADC training center at 330-463-5501.

All MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING OF LOCAL 5 are invited to the annual Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 16th at our union hall. Doors open at 6 p. m. There will be dinner, soft drinks, door prizes and lots of camaraderie.

No alcohol will be served. Smoking in the building is prohibited.
