WE'VE MOVED!! The offices of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 5 and the Bricklayers Funds office moved September 30, 2011 to 6200 Rockside Woods Blvd. N., Suite 210, Independence, Ohio 44131.

Starting Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 7p.m., Local 5 Union meetings will be held at the Pipefitters Local #120 Hall, 6305 Halle Drive, Valley View, Ohio 44125. Future meetings will continue to be on the third Wednesday of the month, also at 7p.m.
There are a number of used chairs and some other office furniture etc., which will be donated to the members in good standing on a first come first serve basis on Saturday, October 8, 2011, 9a.m. to 12 noon. Loading, transporting, and the delivery of said items are the responsibility of the recipients.
The North Shore AFL-CIO Labor Parade and Picnic was well attended Saturday, September 3rd in Parma Heights with a nice turn out of Local 5 members and their enthusiastic families marching. Thanks to all those who participated and helped with the parade and picnic on a sunny and hot summer day. We really had a lot of fun.
The Bricklayers Softball team made a good showing at the Cleveland Building Trades  Softball Tournament. The “Boys of Summer” finished third in the “A” Division winning three out of five games at James Day Park in Parma. Good job, guys. You represented us well.
All Retirees are invited to the Bricklayers Retiree Club Luncheon on Wednesday, October 12, 11a.m. at St. John’s Event Center, 4925 State Road, Cleveland (across the street from the Original Mattress Factory on State and I-480).
Please be sure to vote no on issue 2 to repeal Senate Bill 5, Tuesday November 8th.
The members and officers of Local 5 offer their sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Brother Adolph Strumbly, who passed away recently. Brother Strumbly served 64 years as a member of our union.
Congratulations to Brother Horst Barth and Brother Willis Simmons who will receive their 50 year Gold Card Awards this month. Congratulations are also in order for Brother John Kasper who will be receiving his 40 year pin award.  The officers and members of Local 5 thank all of you for your many years of service and dedication to our union and our craft. We wish you the very best of health and happiness.

Pre-apprenticeship applications are accepted Mondays from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 5 Union Hall, 4205 Chester Avenue, Cleveland, Ohio 44103. A valid driver's license and a high school diploma or G.E.D. must be provided prior to filling out an application.
